2023 fixtures
The Wimbledon Club | 16th April (Sunday) | 12:00pm
Match Manager: Ben Fulton
Address: Wimbledon Club, Church Road, London SW19 5AG The Wimbledon Club is a combined cricket, hockey, tennis and squash club located opposite the All England Tennis Club. This match is the closest we get to our roots - the ground on which LNZCC was once based is just across the road at what is now the All-England Tennis Club's magnificent Wimbledon complex. |
Hampstead CC | 30th April (Sunday) | 1:00pm
Match Manager: Brogan McIlwrick
Address: Hampstead Cricket Club, London NW6 1HZ Hampstead Cricket Club was founded in 1865 and is one of the oldest clubs in the Middlesex Premiership League. It can often be a weather-relatedchallenge to complete a game in mid-April and there have often been fireworks when we've been able to. LNZCC once suffered at the hands of 225* by one HCC batsman, falling only 7 runs short in the chase, in a 40 over match! |
Hartley Wintney CC | 1st May (Bank Holiday Monday) | 1:30pm
Match Manager: Scott Baldwin
Address: Cricket Green, Hartley Wintney RG27 8PG Formed in 1770, Hartley Wintney CC is one of the oldest in the world and it still plays on the original oval. This is a well-loved fixture played between two competitive sides on the Monday of the first May Bank holiday - the result is often dependent how much hospitality is enjoyed at the The Cricketers pub opposite. |
Oxted & Limpsfield CC | 7th May (Sunday) | 1:00pm
Match Manager: Leith Cowie
Address: Master Park, Oxted, Surrey RH8 9NA In 1952, LNZCC played for the first time against Oxted. Our team on that summer's day almost 70 years included three former test cricketers and an ex-All Black. The inaugural match was followed by a black tie ball at a nearby stately home, which is not something we can promise these days sadly. Oxted is in Surrey, a short train ride from London Bridge, Victoria or Waterloo. One to mark off the 'matches played' calendar for all club members. |
Number 10 Downing Street CC | 17th May (Wednesday) | 6:00pm | NEW T20 FIXTURE!
Match Manager: Peter Bellamy
Address: Battersea Park, London SW11 4NJ It is not often one gets a request from Number 10 Downing Street. On this occasion they were pitching for a T20 fixture vs our salubrious Club. We’re planning on a couple of fixtures – one in May and another in June. The quality of the opposition is to be determined (will the Prime Minister turn up?) but this is great opportunity to spread our special brand of kiwi goodwill and perhaps even get the inside track on the goings on in the beating heart of the UK government. |
Broadhalfpenny Brigands CC | 21st May (Sunday) | 2:00pm
Match Manager: Ryan Allan
Address: Broadhalfpenny Down, near Clanfield, Hampshire PO8 0UB Broadhalfpenny Brigands is a match for anyone interested in the history of cricket and it was good to rekindle our long association with Brigands when they welcomed us back in 2002. It is a privilege to play at The Bat and Ball ground, atop the Broadhalfpenny Down. |
St Paul's School Staff XI | 24th May (Wednesday) | 6:00pm | NEW T20 FIXTURE!
Match Manager: Peter Bellamy
Address: St Paul's School, Lonsdale Road, London SW13 9JT Another new fixture for 2023. This one is a mid week T20 against an invitational XI being played at the prestigious St Paul's School. |
Earlswood Strollers CC | 27th May (Saturday) | 12:00pm | NEW FIXTURE!
Match Manager: Andrew Neal
Address: John Paul Getty Cricket Ground, Stokenchurch, High Wycombe HP14 3YG A new match-up for our schedule in 2023. A friendly, sociable and inclusive cricket club based at Bromley Common - yes, inside the M25! They have come to us highly recommended as a Club with a very similar Club ethos and ability to ours - we look forward this opportunity to play them. |
Gents of Cambridge | 4th June (Sunday) | 1:00pm
Match Manager: Andrew Haines
Address: King's College and Selwyn College Sports Ground, entrance via Fulbrooke Road, Cambridge CB3 9EG Following a fantastic first game last year, we have been invited back this season for another game against the GoC. Great opposition, a great game and a direct rail trip from London – all things that make this a fixture worth getting your name on this playing list early. |
Follies Farm Old Spots CC | 10th June (Saturday) | 1:00pm
Match Manager: Sam Martin
Address: Follies Farm, High Street Green, Chiddingfold, GU8 4YB First played in 2018, the match vs FFOSCC is hosted by LNZCC's own Guy Gibson in Surrey. It promises to be a good day of cricket, on a pitch that is traditionally low and slow, followed by a BBQ and a few beers. |
St Tropez CC | 11th June (Sunday) | 11:00am
Match Manager: Richard Burgess
Address: Follies Farm, High Street Green, Chiddingfold, GU8 4YB After a successful fixture in 2022, we once again join forces with Follies Farm to turn out a mixed XI against a visiting side from St Tropez. Follies Farm offers very unfamiliar conditions for the touring party, whose home ground is surrounded by Umbrella Pines, and their cricket is played on a matting wicket in the middle of a Polo field on the Cote D’Azur. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security - this will be a good side and some excellent cricket will be on order. |
Holmesdale CC | 18th June (Sunday) | 1:30pm
Match Manager: Mark Epps
Address: Holmesdale Cricket Ground, Montreal Park, Worships Hill, Sevenoaks TN13 2AP Played for the first time in 2018, it's a long overdue pleasure to have another match in Kent, courtesy of LNZ's Mark Epps who is a member of both clubs. Very easy to reach from London Bridge, perhaps one for the train-beer-curry combo? |
St Paul's School Staff XI | 19th June (Monday) | 6:00pm | NEW T20 FIXTURE!
Match Manager: Peter Bellamy
Address: St Paul's School, Lonsdale Road, London SW13 9JT After the success of the first fixture in May, we've been invited back for another round. |
Army Masters | 25th June (Sunday) | 1:00pm
Match Manager: Andrew Barkle
Address: Tidworth Cricket Ground, Tidworth SP9 7TE A thoroughly enjoyable fixture when it was added in 2018, the Army Masters is a team of Officers and Gentlemen who can play cricket to a high standard. Tidworth's oval is of county standard, and so is the pavilion. Definitely worth enlisting for this match and making the drive down. |
Oxford Downs CC | 2nd July (Sunday) | 2:00pm
Match Manager: Brendon Read
Address: Abingdon Road, Standlake, Witney, Oxfordshire OX29 7QH Oxford Downs Cricket Club was founded in 1923 and still has several descendants from the original side playing for them. Our fixture vs ODCC is one of two in Oxfordshire and well worth the trip, especially now it's in July rather than August. |
The Grannies | 8th July (Saturday) | 11:30am
Match Manager: Nick Ratcliffe
Address: Sheffield Park's storied cricket ground, East Sussex TN22 3QX The Grannies became a wandering club in 1990, and LNZCC played the club for the first time in 2014 at Sheffield Park. Australian cricket's state competition plays for the Sheffield Shield, named after Sheffield Park. |
Old Eastbournians | 10th July (Monday) | 11:00am
Match Manager: Cheyne Voss
Address: Eastbourne College, Old Wish Road, Eastbourne BN21 4JY Courtesy of George Burdon's connections and at the invitation of Eastbourne CC, we're playing on the Monday of their Cricket Week. An easy day trip by train from Waterloo to the south coast to enjoy summer sun, hospitality and a game of cricket. |
Ripley CC | 16th July (Sunday) | 1:00pm
Match Manager: Richard Fish
Address: The Green, Ripley, Surrey GU23 6AR We have a special bond with Ripley Cricket Club - it is the only remaining original fixture. LNZCC first played Ripley CC in 1952, the year of our formation and some two hundred years after Ripley’s in c.1749. Ripley is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world and it includes in its proud history establishing the use of a middle stump. |
Four Elms CC | 23rd July (Sunday) | 11:30am
Match Manager: Cheyne Voss
Address: Bough Beech Road (B2027) Four Elm, Edenbridge, Kent TN8 6NE Four Elms is no longer the club's only fixture in Kent (we've added Holmesdale CC) and has been the scene of some fantastic run chases by both sides over the years. The picturesque village ground nestles beneath the green sand hills of the Surrey / Kent border. |
Hagley CC | 30th July (Sunday) | 11:30am | Overnight stay planned
Match Manager: Anthony Penman
Address: Hagley Hall, Stourbridge, Worcestershire DY9 9LQ Hagley CC is one of our flagship fixtures and cements a real link to New Zealand's heritage - the family founded the port town of Lyttelton in NZ. This match near Stourbridge in Worcestershire should not be missed even as a spectator - the ground is set directly in front of the magnificent, 18th century Palladian style Hagley Hall, the ancestral home of the Lyttelton family. This year is a very special occasion as it likely marks the last time this match is managed by TP - we are looking to get a strong side out and enjoy the weekend by staying over on Saturday night. |
Flashmen CC | 10th August (Thursday) | 6:15pm
Match Manager: Tim Barringer
Address: King's House School sports ground, Riverside Dr, Chiswick, London W4 2SH New in 2021 and normally played in the grounds of a magnificent stately home on the banks of the Thames (which was unfortunately underwater until just before this match was originally scheduled), the Flashmen are a similar club to LNZ, by way of sartorial elegance if nothing else. Formed in the early 2000s as a club for expat Zimbabweans, they've opened the doors to South Africans and they are almost always a very strong side. Perhaps their website tells us all we need to know. |
Spencer CC | 13th August (Sunday) | 12:30pm
Match Manager: Sam Martin
Address: Spencer CC, Fieldview, Earlsfield, London, SW18 3HF Several LNZCC players and their children have been members of Spencer CC over the years and now we get to play them in a fixture. Sam 'MOBC (Member Of Both Clubs') Martin has the MM duties in game that will be played on one of the best club pitches in London. |
Goodwood CC | 20th August (Sunday) | 11:30am
Match Manager: Richard Fish
Address: Duke of Richmond & Gordon Estate, Goodwood, West Sussex PO18 0PX This is a long-standing fixture that we've struggled to win in recent years. Glorious Goodwood conjures up images of racing, both up on the downs at the horse track, and down on the flat with vintage cars. Alas, this fixture is no longer played the day after the races, but the area's long association with cricket persists. |
Canterbury Over 50s XI | 26th August (Saturday) | 11:00am | NEW FIXTURE!
Match Manager: Sam Martin
Address: Follies Farm, High Street Green, Chiddingfold, GU8 4YB Sam Martin has arranged a fixture against the Canterbury Over 50s XI, who are touring the UK. |
LNZCC Rams v Lambs T20 | 27th August (Sunday) | 12:00pm
Match Manager: Peter Bellamy
Address: King's House School sports ground, Riverside Dr, Chiswick, London W4 2SH This fixture has fast become the fun event to bring the club together as a good excuse in the name of cricket. Played in a modified T20 format to cater for the numbers wanting to participate. The oldest half play for the Rams and the youngest for the Lambs. |
Honourable Artillery Company CC | 3rd September (Sunday) | 12:00pm
Match Manager: Adam Khanbhai
Address: Armory House, City Road, London EC1Y 2BQ The Honourable Artillery Company located within the City of London is a club steeped in military tradition. It is one of the finest wicket blocks we play on, and is one of the most expensive cricket grounds per square foot in the world. A "must play" game for all members of the Club. |
The Hurlingham Club | 9th September (Saturday) | 10:30am
Match Manager: Vance Thompson
Address: Ranelagh Gardens, Fulham, London SW6 3PR The Hurlingham Club was established in 1867 as ‘an agreeable country resort’ after nine acres were acquired from the Bishop of London. It's not unknown for THC to field county and test players, and we've done the same. The pitch is as magnificent as the grounds. Another "must play at least once" game. |
Winchmore Hill CC | 16th September (Saturday) | 1.00pm
Match Manager: Gerard Walsh
Address: Winchmore Hill Sports Club, The Paulin Ground, 149 Firs Lane, N21 3ER WInchmore Hill CC and The Paulin Ground have a deep NZ connection and a long cricketing history. Introduced to LNZ by Gary Paulin, WHCC are always a strong side as pretty much the entire team played senior club cricket in the past. The match will be followed by a BBQ and beers. |
North Island v South Island | 23rd September (Saturday) | 11:30am
Match Manager: Russell Kyne (North) / Ben Fulton (South)
Address: Bromley Common Cricket Club, Oakley Road, Bromley BR2 8HQ North vs. South, mate against mate, bat vs ball... Moved to the final UK game of the season, it's one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures on the calendar. The cricket's not bad either - 2017 saw Andrew Haines blast a then-record high score of 206* (He's since topped it vs Richmond in 2019) |
Ibiza CC | 6–8th October | Multiple matches
Match Manager: Gerard Walsh
Address: Venda de Balafia de Baix, 25, 07812 Sant Joan de Labritja, Balearic Islands Many will know and understand the merits of the delightful, quiet, laid-back Balearic island of Ibiza. Few may have known there was a strong and well-supported cricket club there. Since we first played Ibiza CC, we've formed quite a bond with that other team of expats living far from home! Now in October, it's still possible to enjoy sun, sand, doof-doof music and cricket and it's not even Closing Weekend!! |
