Capping LNZCC players

All LNZCC players are capped with ‘Nottman Caps’ when they play their fifth match for the club.  This formal acknowledgement of club members was introduced in 2008 and the first cap was awarded in 2009.

Harold Nottman was one of LNZCC's longer-serving playing members, representing the club with distinction from the 1950s to the 1990s and he should be remembered for the Ripley match where his bowling took nine wickets in the innings.  Off the field, Harold was a notable administrator, serving on the committee for many years including a long spell as Club Secretary.  When Harold passed away in 2008, his widow Audrey made a very generous donation to mark his fondness for LNZCC.

The club put Harold’s generous bequest to work by introducing a Cap Match for LNZCC players on their 5th game for the club.  The original bequest was exhausted in 2013 and the Nottman Cap fund was replenished by one of the club’s longest-serving players, a true English gentleman, in a most magnificent gesture.

By the start of the 2015 season, 45 club members had been capped.
