2020 Fixtures
1. The Wimbledon Club | 26th April | 1:00pm (Sunday) (2019 - LNZCC Loss)
Match Manager: Josh Wright
Address: Wimbledon Club, Church Road, London SW19 5AG The Wimbledon Club is a combined cricket, hockey, tennis and squash club located opposite the All England Tennis Club. This match is the closest we get to our roots - the ground on which LNZCC was once based is just across the road at what is now the All-England Tennis Club's magnificent Wimbledon complex. |
2. Hampstead | 3rd May | 1:00pm (Sunday) (2019 - LNZCC Loss)
Match Manager: Brogan McIlwrick
Address: Hampstead Cricket Club, London NW6 1HZ Hampstead Cricket Club was founded in 1865 and is one of the oldest clubs in the Middlesex Premiership League. It can often be a weather-beaten challenge to complete a game in mid-April and there have often been fireworks when we've been able to. LNZCC once suffered at the hands of 225* by one HCC batsman, falling only 7 runs short in the chase! |
3. Oxted & Limpsfield CC | 10th May (Sunday) | 1.00pm (New Fixture)
Match Manager: Leith Cowie
Master Park, Oxted, Surrey RH8 9NA In 1952, LNZCC played for the first time against Oxted. Our team on that summer's day almost 70 years included three former test cricketers and an ex-All Black. The inaugural match was followed by a black tie ball at a nearby stately home, which is not something we can promise these days sadly. Oxted is in Surrey, a short train ride from London Bridge, Victoria or Waterloo. One to mark off the matches played calendar for all club members. |
4. Broadhalfpenny Brigands | 17th May | 2:00pm (2019 Draw - Rain)
Match Manager: Ryan Allen
Address: Broadhalfpenny Down, Near Clanfield, Hampshire PO8 0UB Broadhalfpenny Brigands is a match for anyone interested in the history of cricket and it was good to rekindle our long association with Brigands when they welcomed us back in 2002. It is a privilege to play at The Bat and Ball ground, atop the Broadhalfpenny Down. |
5. Hartley Wintney Cricket Club | 25th May (Monday) | 1.00pm (2019 - LNZCC Loss)
Match Manager: John Dennis
Address: Cricket Green, Hartley Wintney; RG27 8PG Formed in 1770, Hartley Wintney CC is one of the oldest in the world and it still plays on the original oval. This is a well-loved fixture played between two competitive sides on the Monday of the first May Bank holiday - the result is often dependent how much hospitality is enjoyed at the The Cricketers pub opposite. |
6. Follies Farm Old Spots CC | 30th May (Saturday) | 1:00pm (2019 - LNZCC LOSS 8 wickets)
Match Manager: Pritesh Rana
Address: Follies Farm, High Street Green, Chiddingfold, GU8 4YB Another game first played in 2018, the match vs FFOSCC is hosted by LNZCC's own Guy Gibson in Surrey. It promises to be a good day of cricket, on a pitch that is traditionally low and slow, followed by a BBQ and a few beers. |
7. Hampshire Hogs | 7th June (Sunday) | 11:30am (2019 - LNZCC WIN 39 Runs)
Match Manager: John Dennis
Address: Wheely Down Road, Warnford, Southampton SO32 3LG John Dennis has the pleasure of match managing the game vs Hampshire Hogs CC, which was added to our fixtures in 2009. The club was founded in 1887 and was originally known as The Northland Rovers C.C. This is a marvellous fixture and the lunch and tea make the drive worthwhile. |
8. Hagley | TBC | 11:30am (Sunday) (2019 - Cancelled)
Match Manager: Anthony Penman
Address: Hagley Hall, Stourbridge, Worcestershire DY9 9LQ Hagley CC is one of our flagship fixtures and cements a real link to New Zealand's heritage - the family founded the port town of Lyttelton in NZ. This match near Stourbridge in Worcestershire should not be missed even as a spectator - the ground is set directly in front of the magnificent, 18th century Palladian style Hagley Hall, the ancestral home of the Lyttelton family. |
9. Winchmore Hill CC | 21st June (Sunday) | 1.00pm (2019 LNZCC loss)
Match Manager: Gerard Walsh
Address: Winchmore Hill Sports Club, The Paulin Ground, 149 Firs Lane, N21 3ER WInchmore Hill CC and The Paulin Ground have a deep NZ connection and a long cricketing history. 10. Oxfords Downs | 28th June (Sunday) | 2:00pm (2019 - DRAW)
Match Manager: Richard Boon
Address: Abingdon Road, Standlake, Witney, Oxfordshire OX29 7QH Oxford Downs Cricket Club was founded in 1923 and still has several descendants from the original side playing for them. Our fixture vs ODCC is one of two in Oxfordshire and well worth the trip, especially now it's in July rather than August. |
11. Flashmen CC | 5th July (Sunday) | 1:00pm (New Fixture in 2020)
Match Manager: Nick Teulon
Address: Culham Court, near Henley, Berkshire, RG9 3DL New in 2020 and played in the grounds of a magnificent stately home on the banks of the Thames, the Flashmen are a very similar club to LNZ, by way of sartorial elegance if nothing else. Formed in the early 2000s as a club for expat Zimbabweans, they've opened the doors to South Africans and they are almost always a very strong side. Perhaps their website tells us all we need to know. |
12. Ripley | 12th July (Sunday) | 1:00pm (2019 - LNZCC WIN)
Match Manager: Richard Fish
Address: The Green, Ripley, Surrey GU23 6AR We have a special bond with Ripley Cricket Club - it is the only remaining original fixture. LNZCC first played Ripley CC in 1952, the year of our formation and some two hundred years after Ripley’s in c.1749. Ripley is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world and it includes in its proud history establishing the use of a middle stump. |
13. Four Elms | 19th July (Sunday) | 11:30am (2019 - LNZCC LOSS)
Match Manager: Cheyne Voss
Address: Bough Beech Road (B2027) Four Elm, Edenbridge, Kent TN8 6NE Four Elms is no longer the club's only fixture in Kent (we've added Holmesdale CC) and has been the scene of some fantastic run chases by both sides over the years. The picturesque village ground nestles beneath the green sand hills of the Surrey / Kent border. |
14. LNZ Rams v Lambs T20 | 21st July (Tuesday) | 6.30pm (2019 - Rams WIN)
Match Manager: Peter Bellamy
Address: Spencer CC Fieldview, Earlsfield, London, SW18 3HF Played for a trophy named in honour of the long career of Richard Holden, the T20 interclub game will pit Rams vs Lambs at an age barrier to be decided on the day. We've moved it to a Tuesday evening at a club in Earlsfield that's very easy to get to. BBQ and beers and possibly a curry in Tooting to follow! |
15. The Grannies | 25th July (Saturday) | 11.30am (2019 - Loss by 3 runs)
Match Manager: Nick Ratcliffe
Address: Sheffield Park, Forest Row, West Sussex TN22 3QX The Grannies became a wandering club in 1990, and LNZCC played the club for the first time in 2014 at Sheffield Park. 16. Holmesdale CC | 2nd August (Sunday)| 1pm (2018 - LNZCC LOSS)
Match Manager: TBC
Address: Cricket Ground, Montreal Park, Worships Hill, Sevenoaks TN13 2AP Played for the first time in 2018, it's a long overdue pleasure to have another match in Kent, courtesy of LNZ's Mark Epps who is a member of both clubs. Very easy to reach from London Bridge, perhaps one for the train-beer-curry combo? |
17. Spencer CC | 9th August | 12:30pm (2019 - LNZCC win)
Match Manager: Sam Martin
Address: Spencer CC Fieldview, Earlsfield, London, SW18 3HF Several LNZCC players and their children have been members of Spencer CC over the years and now we get to play them in a fixture. Sam 'MOBC (Member Of Both Clubs') Martin has the MM duties in game that will be played on one of the best club pitches in London. |
18. Goodwood | 16th August (Sunday) | 11:30am (2019 - LNZCC LOSS)
Match Manager: Richard Fish
Address: Duke of Richmond & Gordon Estate, Goodwood, West Sussex PO18 0PX This is a long-standing fixture that we've struggled to win in recent years. Glorious Goodwood conjures up images of racing, both up on the downs at the horse track, and down on the flat with vintage cars. Alas, this fixture is no longer played the day after the races, but the area's long association with cricket persists. |
19. Richmond | 23rd August | 1:00pm (Sunday) - (2019 - LNZCC Win)
Match Manager: Andrew Haines
Address: Old Deer Park, 187 Kew Road, Richmond, Surrey TW9 2AZ The history books show that cricket was played on Richmond Green from as early as 1666 in challenge matches, sponsored by Dukes and others of noble birth. 20. The Hurlingham Club | 5th September (Saturday) | 10:30am (2019 - LNZCC LOSS)
Match Manager: Vance Thompson
Address: Ranelagh Gardens, Fulham, London SW6 3PR The Hurlingham Club was established in 1867 as ‘an agreeable country resort’ after nine acres were acquired from the Bishop of London. It's not unknown for THC to field county and test players, and we've done the same. The pitch is as magnificent as the grounds. Another 'must play at least once' game. |
21. Army Masters | 6th September (Sunday) | 1300 Hours (2019 - LNZCC LOSS)
Match Manager: Andrew Barkle
Address: Tidworth Garrison Ground, TBC A thoroughly enjoyable fixture when it was added in 2018, the Army Masters is a team of Officers and Gentlemen who can play cricket to a high standard. Tidworth's oval is of county standard, and so is the pavilion. Definitely worth enlisting for this newish match and making the drive down. |
22. Honorable Artillery Club | 12th (Saturday) | 12:00pm (2019 - LNZCC LOSS)
Match Manager: Adam Khanbhai
Address: Armory House, City Road, London EC1Y 2BQ The Honourable Artillery Company located within the City of London is a club steeped in military tradition. It is one of the finest wicket blocks we play on, and is one of the most expensive cricket grounds per sq foot in the world. |
23. North Is. v South Is. | 14th September | 11:30am (2019 - NORTH WIN)
Match Manager: Josh Wright / Sam Martin
Address: Streatham and Marlborough CC, Dulwich North vs. South, mate against mate, bat vs ball... Moved to the final UK game of the season, it's one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures on the calendar. The cricket's not bad either - 2017 saw Andrew Haines blast a then-record high score of 206* (He's since topped it vs Richmond in 2019) |
24 & 25. Ibiza Cricket Club | 2nd & 3rd October | 1:00pm
(2019 - ICC WIN game 1; LNZCC WIN game 2)
Match Manager: Gerard Walsh
Address: San Augustin , Ibiza Many will know and understand the merits of the delightful, quiet, laid-back Balearic island of Ibiza. Few may have known there was a strong and well-supported cricket club there. Since we first played Ibiza CC, we've formed quite a bond with that other team of expats living far from home! Now in October, it's still possible to enjoy sun, sand, doof-doof music and cricket and it's not even Closing Weekend!! |
