Chenies and Latimer - Sunday 16th May 2010
It was one of those days. There were only 8 of us after some late pull-outs due to injury and there being one too many exits at Clapham Junction station. So we started late in a 45 over match, C&L batted made it to 110 for 4 off 26 overs and then the rains came and washed poor Incey out….
Alex Dole, Guy Simm, Bevan Harris and Craig Robinson all bowled very tidily. Alex nailed middle and leg for his wicket, Guy was very unlucky not to take out some stumps and one edge flew through but was grassed. Andrew Dick kept and executed a run-out to get off the keeping mark for the club (from a Guy Simm rocket from the outfield,) there was a catch at mid-wicket to give Craig his mark in the book and Marty fired one for Bevan Harris’s first wicket for the club (well done Bevan.) Pete Tippen, TP and I didn’t have to bowl.
As Sam said after Wimbledon, the standard of our fielding has changed for the much better this year. Really encouraging and I would urge you to put at least a couple of fellas on backing up duty when Alex or Guy are firing them in from the boundary. (The returns come in flat, hard and fast!!)
No match, no match fee, no man of the match. Thanks to Martin Conway for umpiring at both ends, and thanks also to a rotating cast of the C&L players for helping out in the field, and to the C&L Catering Division for a lovely lunch and tea.
Delayed start - 45 Over match – 9 overs per bowler. Chenies won the toss and elected to bat
Scoreboard Chenies 110 for 4 - Match abandoned at 3.45pm
