glides London NZ to win
Achieving his maiden club century in 100 balls Matt Reinholds eased London New
Zealand Cricket club into a fine win against Hagley cricket club last Sunday.
Lord Cobham the patron for LNZ annually hosts this declaration fixture at his
fine Midlands estate. After winning the toss captain Richard Burgess put Hagley
into bat. They started well but had a middle order collapse when at 100 lost 5
wickets for only 19 runs. Hagley went onto 192 all out. In his first season for
LNZ Paul (Fletch) Christian claimed 5 wickets for 49 runs from 15 overs while
Richard Holden in his 31st season claimed 3 wickets for 31 from 11 overs.
With plenty of time and overs in hand and the weather improving by the minute
LNZ started well until club chairman Richard Keyse mistimed to mid wicket for
31. This brought Reinholds to the crease who selected his shots wisely to ease
to his fifty in quick time. The runs were coming freely but also a
couple of wickets for Hagley, however, Mike Oliver being 13 not out at the end
partnered Reinholds to his century (13 fours and 4 sixes) and victory for LNZ in
the 39th over. Two GBK man of the match awards were given to Christian and
Reinholds.
Plus. Only four dropped catches but a great catch held by Chappie to take the
last wicket (they were declaring at the end of that over). However, in
completing the catch in the deep Chappie went over on his ankle and sprained it.
After a visit to X-ray - no breakages - so was supping beer at 5pm.
