Australia House - Sunday 7th May 2006 Well the season finally got underway last weekend with the match against Aussie House. The weather had looked a bit dodge but held off long enough for over 600 runs to be scored in the day. Aussie House won the toss and choose to bat in a 45 over fixture. They ensured it would be a competitive fixture by racking up 323 for 6. There were moments of brilliance in the field with a fantastic run out from Mike Oliver who was on debut for the club but we also let them off the hook with a couple of dropped catches. (No names but the match manager was involved) LNZCC made a solid start with Mike Oliver and Matt Fanning at the top of the order but then the real fire works began. A magnificent partnership between Matt Reinhold's( 59) and Terry Crabb (133) of 170 had the Aussies on the back foot. Unfortunately the total was just beyond our reach and we were bowled out for 293. Overall it was a great game of cricket and nice to finally get some play in, even if it was a loss to the old enemy. Terry Crabb picked up the first player of the day award for the summer, a 25 pound GBK voucher for his magnificent 100 and tight bowling spell. His hundred came off 90 balls and included 12 fours and 6 sixes. Thanks Marty for Umpiring. Scoreboard Australia House 323-6 (45 Overs) LNZCC 293 All out Australia House win by 30 runs
